Jen

Hi, I’m Jen Kwok! I was born “in The Valley!” and raised in California’s gorgeous and lonely Mojave desert.

Today, I’m a comedian living in Brooklyn, NY who performs improv, musical and stand-up comedy.  Please feel free to check out the links to my other sites (to your right) to learn more about me,  my neighborhood and the places where I perform!

I grew up in California, where I had parents (Van and Michelle), a little sister (Donna), a black lab mutt (Yogi), and piano lessons (classical).

I had some awkward years.

When I was 17, I came to New York and studied hard at Binghamton University to become a kick ass business woman. Upon graduation, I was hired by a superhuge accounting firm where mediocrity and miserableness was encouraged.

Spurred by a willful heart, I quit the corporate world to look for a life of excellence and happiness. I started taking improv comedy classes and moved to a career in jazz education. Life went along swimmingly, but things weren’t all the way right.

Then I picked up the ukulele.

I wrote some funny songs and jokes. I performed a few times. Suddenly, I was on my way to the national finals of NBC Stand-Up for Diversity.

I started living a double life, filing away contracts at my job, taking lunch to audition for sitcoms and performing stand-up at night. After a few months of this, I realized that maybe I should just go ahead and be who I am.

Now I’m one of hundreds of comedians trying to make it in New York City.

Yay, let's see what happens!

Ah Jen, yet another Asian girl for me to be jealous of. I had dreams that I followed once. Now I’m just desperate for a job, any job.

I’m sure I’ll run into you once I move back to NY!
